			„Städte sind flexible und bewegliche Räume. Als Künstler habe ich die Möglichkeit, auf die Gesellschaft zu reagieren und eine Art Spiegel zu entwerfen. Der öffentliche Raum verlangt nach einer Sprache, die möglichst viele verstehen. Aus diesem Grund habe ich mich für meine Installation in Oss (Niederlande) auch für die skulpturale Umsetzung des heraldischen Motivs aus dem Stadtwappen entschieden. Es hat einen Bezug zur Geschichte, Kultur und den Menschen von Oss. Einerseits irritieren die goldenen Ochsenköpfe an den Häuserwänden den Blick, andererseits sind sie Ausdruck meines Respekts für dieses identitätsstiftende Symbol. Die Bewohner und Besucher der Stadt Oss werden für einen Monat zu einem Teil der Inszenierung. 			Ottmar Hörl uses the world-famous painting "Lady with an Ermine" by Leonardo da Vinci, in the collection of Czartoryski Museum in Krakow, as an occasion for his latest project. Martin Luther: Here I stand, 2010

			Die Installation mit 800 Luther-Figuren auf dem Marktplatz der Lutherstadt Wittenberg soll als Teil des Programms der Luther-Dekade auf das Reformationsjubiläum 2017 (500 Jahre Thesenanschlag Martin Luthers) vorbereiten. Die Skulptur bezieht sich auf das Luther-Denkmal des Bildhauers Johann Gottfried Schadow, das seit 1821 auf dem Marktplatz von Wittenberg steht. Poisoned, 2008

			The garden gnome whose arm is raised in a “Heil Hitler” salute has been found not guilty of being a Nazi. The gnome in question is one of about 700 that were featured last year in an exhibit entitled “Dancing With the Devil,” Deutsche Presse-Agentur reports. Found on display in a Nuremberg gallery, the gnome was being investigated by authorities after a viewer complained that it breaks German laws forbidding the use of Nazi symbolism. Hörl, a professor at Nuremberg’s Academy of Fine Arts who has created other, friendlier interpretations of the traditional German figure in the past, argued that the piece was clearly mocking the Nazis, who likely would not appreciate being depicted as an army of garden gnomes.
