Auf dem Areal des Klosters, das ja auch eine „Arche“ darstellt – Schutzraum, Schrein und Schoß der Kirche – werden moderne Auffassungen zw. persönliche Aspekte des alten Themas präsentiert. Es ist ein erstaunlich aktuelles Thema: einerseits entstehen Massenhysterien, ausgelöst vom Glauben an den Weltuntergang 2012 laut Maya-Kalender, anderseits werden von nüchternen Wissenschaftlern Genbanken als moderne Archen Noahs errichtet, wo das Erbgut aller Arten des Planeten für die Zukunft verwahrt wird. Zu sehen sein werden Skulpturen von Madeleine Dietz, Ingrid Hornef, Ottmar Hörl, Georg Hüter, Nicolas Kerksieck, Titus Lerner und Christian Rösner.

„Städte sind flexible und bewegliche Räume. Als Künstler habe ich die Möglichkeit, auf die Gesellschaft zu reagieren und eine Art Spiegel zu entwerfen. Der öffentliche Raum verlangt nach einer Sprache, die möglichst viele verstehen. Aus diesem Grund habe ich mich für meine Installation in Oss auch für die skulpturale Umsetzung des heraldischen Motivs aus dem Stadtwappen entschieden. Es hat einen Bezug zur Geschichte, Kultur und den Menschen von Oss. Einerseits irritieren die goldenen Ochsenköpfe an den Häuserwänden den Blick, andererseits sind sie Ausdruck meines Respekts für dieses identitätsstiftende Symbol.
Die Bewohner und Besucher der Stadt Oss werden für einen Monat zu einem Teil der Inszenierung. Ihr Sehen, Entdecken und Bewerten ist eine lebendige und wichtige Ergänzung meiner Installation.“

Aus der Pressemitteilung von „kunstvoll e.V.“:
„kunstvoll ev.“ und der Fachbereich Kultur der Stadt Bad Nauheim präsentieren in der Galerie Trinkkur in der Trinkkuranlage Bad Nauheim die erste gemeinsame Ausstellung der beiden wohl bekanntesten deutschen Projektkünstler. Die Besucher erwartet eine eigens für die Ausstellung entwickelte Konzeption dieser beiden außergewöhnlichen Künstler, die die Besucher überraschen, begeistern und faszinieren wird. Ottmar Hörl wird unter dem Motto "most wanted" seine Skulptur "Zwerg mit Hitlergruß" präsentieren. In der Rotunde der Galerie Trinkkur wird eine weitere Installation zu sehen sein, die als Überraschung für die Besucher gedacht ist. Außerdem zeigt der Künstler viele seiner bekannten Klassiker.
Thomas Baumgärtel wird seine Bananen-Spraybilder zeigen. Passend zum Thema "most wanted" sind dort die schlimmsten Verbrecher dieser Welt integriert.

Requiem für Vincent - Städtische Galerie Neunkirchen
Ottmar Hörl, Professor und Präsident an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Nürnberg, nimmt eine der markantesten Positionen in der deutschen Plastik der Gegenwart ein. Bekannt wurde der Konzept- und Aktionskünstler vor allem durch seine spektakulären Großinstallationen im öffentlichen Raum. Dieser Aspekt des öffentlichen Kommunizierens, der Intention, sich an viele zu wenden, wird regelmäßig begleitet von Auseinandersetzungen mit dem Innenraum. Hierfür erstellt Hörl Werkkonzepte, die sich mit der Kunstgeschichte, der Idee von Skulptur und Malerei, dem Prinzip des Seriellen und mit dem Spannungsfeld von Natur und Kunst auseinandersetzen. So auch die Fotokonzepte und Installationen für die Neunkircher Ausstellung „Requiem für Vincent“, die Assoziationsräume zur Kunst und zum Künstlertum Vincent van Goghs eröffnen.

Im Jahr der Kulturhauptstadt präsentiert das Aquarius Wassermuseum der RWW Rheinisch-Westfälische Wasserwerksgesellschaft in Mülheim an der Ruhr einen neuen Ausstellungsbereich: Virtuelles Wasser. Aus diesem Anlass verwandelt der Konzeptkünstler Ottmar Hörl in einer spektakulären Kunstaktion den Museumsvorplatz mit der Installation von 300 Seelöwen-Objekten in eine begehbare Bodenskulptur.

Wittenbergs Luther-Denkmal von Johann Gottfried Schadow auf dem Marktplatz wird zur Restaurierung abgebaut und

The interior of Heilig Kreuz Church in Munich-Giesing is entirely scaffolded due to renovation. Several hundred of golden Guardian Angels spread out over this scaffold forest.

18. KunstWeihnachtsBaum Götzenhain
Eröffnung: 28.11.2009

Zusammen mit Ottmar Hörl realisiert Margarete Habernoll vom „Kunstraum Habernoll“, dem Förderverein Alt-Götzenhain und vielen ehrenamtlich Tätigen dieses Jahr zum 18. Mal den KunstWeihnachtsBaum in Götzenhain. Begonnen jedoch haben die Vorbereitungen zur diesjährigen Skulptur „Ort der Engel“ schon vor einem Jahr. Der letztjährige Weihnachtsbaum, eine 11 m hohe Tanne, blieb stehen und die Bürger konnten die natürliche Verwandlung des Baumes während der Jahreszeiten miterleben: Wie die Tanne zuerst die Nadeln abwarf und dadurch Licht und Platz schuf für Neues. Statt weihnachtlichem Lichterfluss leuchteten nun bunte Sommerblumen auf den Zweigen, bis im Herbst Kürbisse und andere rankende Gemüsesorten den Baum umschlangen und begrünten. Am Ende dieser jahreszeitlichen Übergangsphasen erfüllt sich nun das Ziel: 100 goldene Engel nehmen auf der Tanne ihren Platz ein und verwandeln sie zu einer Engel-Skulptur…

A society cannot be judged by the use of the gnome as a symbol. The gnome does not hold a mirror up to society, but instead fills a void and uses symbols or rather gestures that connect societies.
My relationship with the Poisoned Gnome is therefore completely objective. I made this gnome as a public figure. I do not peddle in morals or ideologies and make no suggestions. I offer an idea that I can present to society, and leave open to personal interpretation. Some may see this gnome as ironic, or interpret it so seriously that they feel insulted, but regardless of the feelings it provokes, they are not part of my context.

Revolt of the Gnomes in Grünhöfe
Summer 2009 the Immanuel Kant School Media Workshop promoted a media culture project for children and teenagers in Grünhöfe, Bremerhaven. To open up and present new perspectives for their borough was the project intention. Focus of the plot are 500 Welcome Gnomes, manually moved cross-town for a stop motion film. Step by step a film has been created whose pseudo movements come together with the reality taking place in the town. From about 20.000 shots a film has been made on the computer. The story: An UFO lands in Grünhöfe, on board 500 garden gnomes in search of their creator Ottmar Hörl, who summons his gnomes playing the passion ”the Pied Piper of Hamelin” on an electric cello in the Grünhöfe Petrus Church. 50 Grade 6 pupils accompanied for one week the gnomes invasion and introduced them to their borough, its institutions, super markets, fast food restaurants, high-rise buildings, streets and intersections…

Sculptures in the Park, 2007 Moerfelden-Walldorf

The Municipal Gallery in the Park at the Buergerhaus in Moerfelden shows the installation "The Lost Dream" by Professor Ottmar Hörl On the park lawn in the City Park of Moerfelden, 200 Teddy bears sit accompanied by a sculpture, a rostrum of 70 figures that put both hands in front of their eyes to bring to the beholder's mind that it is sometimes a peculiar way of reality to wake up in the morning and be grateful that what you dreamed has not become true. And that some dreams are so beautiful that one is disappointed when one awakens and the dream is over.

Landscape with Ravens, Open environment project, May 26 through end of September 2005, Bückeburg Castle

The Bückeburg castle park is transformed into a landscape with thousands of plastic ravens. It will open for the 6th Bückeburg Castle Outing on Thursday, May 29 through Sunday, May 29, 2005. The installation will remain in place until end of September. A trial installation with nearly one hundred of the impressive bird objects on April 25, 2005 gave a first impression.

Flying Splice

Seligenstadt - 1994

In Seligenstadt, an installation of 1000 blue lawn dwarfs - grouped and individually - was distributed all across the city. The blue dwarfs were set up in several steps and staged following to a pattern. In a random sequence of days, they appeared unexpectedly in various sections of the city (downtown, Main riverside, train station, etc.). They were then left to themselves and except for occasional changes of location. They remained until someone took them. This disappearing effect of the total dwarf population is intended and desired, it is one of the goals of the overall project. The project belongs to the public so there is no change of ownership in the true sense of the word, removing the object just individualizes a different location. Basically, it is just a displacement from one position to another in the sense of a "Flying Splice".
